NICKNAMES/ALIASES: Randall Flagg, The Walkin' Dude, Ageless Stranger, The Dark Man, Walter Padick, Marten Broadcloak, Richard Fannin, Legion & many others
AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: About 1500 years old in this time around the Tower. DOB unknown.
POWERS: Walter is an evil almost immortal Wizard. He is almost impossible to kill, and can manifest in many levels of the Tower. He is capable of spells, potions, mass hypnosis, and many other abilities. He is human in shape only, and the demon Legion is capable of most anything. He is skilled in Necromancy, prophecy, and can control the minds of animals and humans alike.
HANDICAPS: Flagg has a temper. He can be pushed into making an error by exploiting this. He has no empathy or understanding of most human emotion by now. The Walkin' Dude is a vain megalomaniac with delusions of grandeur.
APPEARANCE: Walter manifests himself in many different physical forms. Primarily, he appears as a tall lean pale middle aged man with piercing eyes. He favors wearing black, and appears "human" by only casual inspection. He makes up for this by his ability to get into the minds of others.
PHYSICAL QUIRKS: . His veneer of humanity peels very thinly when angered. His eyes may glow, voice may change, and the darkness within begins to show through the cracks.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: Manipulation, poisoning, and tempting others.
RELATIVES: Sam Padick-Father
OCCUPATION: Ancient Wizard, Servant to the Crimson King, and all around not very nice guy.
EDUCATION: Traditional schooling in his home of Delain until running away at the age of 13. He also spent 1500 years learning the dark arts.
TELL US SOMETHING WE DON'T KNOW: Once Walter realizes that the Gunslinger is gone, he will try to seek a new foil. His greatest adversary defines him. He Secretly wants to overthrow the King and take over.
HISTORY: The Man in Black was born Walter Padick in the Eastar'd Barony of Delain. He ran away from home at the age of thirteen. He was raped by a wanderer soon after. Instead of returning home with his head bowed, he sought to fulfill his destiny to quest for the Tower.
His history is interwoven with that of Roland Dechain. He was the court magician in Gilead, and seduced Roland's Mother. He fought against the largest ka-tet of gunslingers at Jericho Hill, and killed Roland's brother in arms Cuthbert Allgood.
Walter has many personas. He has been responsible for some of the most horrific acts in Allworld. As one persona, he brought about the destruction of Gilead. In another, he brought a plague to a version of the earth that killed 99% of the population. He has tempted people to doom, and been a messianic figure that turned out to be a false god.
He was pursued by Roland for time immemorial. Just beyond the gunslingers reach. He set traps for Roland, and forced him to choose between the lives of his Ka-tet, and the quest for the Tower.
Walter and Roland have actually replayed this drama a countless amount of times, on different levels of the Tower, and are unaware of the cycle they are repeating.
PERSONALITY: Evil. He is the chill that runs up your spine. He is manipulative, brilliant, and cold.
MISC: Walter will think the City is another machination of the Tower. He will still attempt to fulfill his quest, and is not beyond starting a cult.
